Pulldown Menu 'OELV'
This pulldown menu gives 5 different options for the type of Occupational Exposure Limit Value which can be used to calculate the Threshold Exceedance IndeX (TIX), and therefore the appropriate Risk Assesment Score (RAS). The usual hierarchy of limit values (as in the Search & Find mode) is also used here.
- Default: TWA 8 hr in mg/m3: an 8 hour time-weighted average (TWA). If the TWA is a kick-off value, the cell color is YELLOW.
- Ceiling mg/m3: the reference period is 0. The absolute maximum, but in some occasions the substance can (only) be measured as 15-minute-STEL;
- STEL in mg/m3: a time-weighted average of 15 minutes: the so-called the Short Term Exposure Level. If there is no STEL value, a calculated value of STEL = 2 * TWA 8 hours is displayed. This is a rule of thumb that is accepted by the Inspectorate SZW (formerly Labour inspectorate) in the Netherlands for the assessment of short-term exposure. The cell color in that case is YELLOW.
- Long Term in mg/m3: used in relation to the probability of an allergic reaction associated with the Limit Value, or as years: used for calulation of the additional cancer mortality risk of carcinogenic substances;
- Other (optional): not in use.
The choice is made by moving the cursor on the desired format and clicking. The result is immediately visible on the screen.
