Search in the tables: Browse

In this option more colums are presented than in the search options Name/Synonym, CAS-number and EC-number. As default the list of Substance Names (left-most column) is ordered aphabetically. The contents of the other columns vary according to the selected search option: Substance, Limit Value or Sampling Method. In fact, you can browse directly through all data that are available in these options (see the tabs Substance, Properties, Limit Values and Sampling Methods for detailed information).

In the Compare Mode the options 'Limit Value' and 'Sampling Method' for browsing are not available. In this mode only the Substance table can be browsed.

Scrolling through the list/in the table

By placing the cursor anywhere in the list/columns, it focusses on a substance. In this way, the substance is selected and the information about available OEL's en Sampling Methods can be viewed. It is also possible to scroll through the list en select another substance.

Search via text box

First you need to select the column in which the search will be performed. Do this by clicking on the name of the column. The text of the name turns bold (f.i. Melting Point in search option Substance). After selecting the column a search in the database can be started. Type in the first character of the substance name/synonym in the text box "Search on text in selected column" (on the far right side of the display). The arrow in the left most column moves to the first substance that complies with the typed-in character. Refine your search by adding more characters to the text box. Continuing this way you "zoom in" to the substance you are looking for.

Another way of using the text box "Search on synonym" is the use of the magnifying glass. Clicking on the magnifying glass, on the right side of this text box, gives a list of all the substances that comply with the search parameter (filter on basis of the search parameter). Clicking again ("deselecting" this button) on the magnifying glass returns you to the previous situation. This feature is of most use after typing in a set of characters (f.i. "145" in the selected column Melting Point gives all substances with a melting point of 145οΏ½ Celsius).
