In April 2005 the policy on OELs in the UK was changed. It was integrated into the COSHH-system of the HSE. There were two types of OELs: de Maximum Exposure Limit (MEL) for extremely toxic substances , and the Occupational Exposure Standard (OES) for all other substances. From both types of OELs only a selection was transposed to the new Workplace Exposure Limits (WEL).
HSE publishes regularly the WEL-list as EH40/2005 publication.
